About The Thalam : Simhanandana Thalam
Simhanandana Thalam is the longest thalam in Indian Music . It has 18 Angas and 128 Kriyas or beats. It comprises of the rarely used angas like : Guru, Plutam and Kakapadam. This thillana has two Avartams (cycles) of Simhanandana Thala ; the first avartam for sahityam and the second for the jathi syllables. This thalam is the 37th of the Ashtothara Shata (108) thalas.
